Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ellen Page embrace the ‘Inception’ of smart projects
They may be in a $160-million summer movie, but don’t be fooled: It’s the exception to the rule. The two young actors eschew celebrity for serious work.

CAPTION THIS: Paging Carrie Bradshaw
Here’s odd couple Ellen Page and Sarah Jessica Parker gal palling it up together at a recent screening of the new film Smart People. Stick with her, Ellen, and that before you know that normal gray skirt you’re wearing will be transformed into a cheetah-leather-hot-pink-sequined bit of fabulousness!

‘Juno’ star Ellen Page sings
Hear the song that was cut from the film on “Almost Adopted Songs.”
Juno star Ellen Page sings on a track appearing on the upcoming second volume of the movie’s soundtrack, Juno B-Sides: Almost Adopted Songs. The Oscar-nominated actress sings ”Zub Zub,” a song written by the movie’s Oscar-winning screenwriter, Diablo Cody, for a scene that was cut from the final edit for time. Page’s character laments her predicament with lines like ”he filled me with baby batter, then we ate some orange tic tacs after.” Director Jason Reitman recalls shooting the scene: ”I just remember directing with my daughter strapped to my chest in a BabyBjorn [baby carrier] and the whole crew watching on as Ellen noodled around on guitar,” he told Reuters.
INSIDE THE BLOGGER?S STUDIO: Olivia Thirlby From Juno Snow Angels
Sure, Ellen Page is super great and all, but if you haven’t heard, Olivia Thirlby - who played Juno’s sassy sidekick - is another young actress who’s all the rage right now. Riding high on the Juno-buzz tidal wave, the object of NY Mag’s indie affection is not only exploding hearts in the NYC hipsteropolis of Williamsburg, but also finding the time to make like 47 exciting new indie flicks - the first of which being this Friday’s Snow Angels - that will coming soon to a theater near you. I just wish I’d known all this before I interviewed her. In less awkward Olivia Thirlby interviewing news, BWE’s Christian Finnegan sat down with her as well, which you can see this Friday at 9 and 11pm ET in a brand new episode of Best Week Ever!
ICYMI: Ellen Page Isn’t Gay, She Just Wants To Hug A Woman With Her Legs In Friendship
After 1:26 minutes of one of the most boring episodes of SNL (which appears to be in the process of reinventing itself as the Hillary Clinton Presidential Campaign HQ) I’ve seen in a long time, so-hot-right-now young actress Ellen Page decided to stop phoning it in (we’ve got it, you’re cool and above it all - we were 19 once, too) for an inspired out-of-nowhere sketch in which Ellen comes home from a Melissa Etheridge concert and tries to wrap her brain around having her oil lamp set aflame by her newfound ladylove. The sketch had a few chuckles, but most importantly, it was a much more interesting way of saying “Yeah, I’m gay, deal with it” than the so-5-minutes-ago People Magazine cover. Now we can all move on.
